Absolute Systems have expanded their solution portfolio with the integration of an ATM security solution - ATMeye - developed by the Lithuanian company BS/2. ATMeye is integrated into the AbsoluteINTERACT solution but can also be implemented in a stand alone mode.
ATMeye was specifically designed to counter card skimming and acts of vandalism at an ATM. Based on a powerful video-surveillance system, ATMeye provides increased security by capturing images related to the various activities surrounding the ATM. The strength of this solution is the flexibility it provides in determining at which point during the usage of an ATM the image is captured. The images can be stored on central server and easily retrieved.
The system was runner up in the ATMIA global security awards in 2002. One of the judges had this to say:" The ATMeye promises to allow a high-quality video snapshot of transaction customers and related records capable of being remotely downloaded to any location. What I like is technology that can interface with the existing installed base of ATMs and existing security systems."
ATMeye consists of a group of products, which enable a video journal on self-service devices. The video journal is a set of titled snapshots associated with the device-specific events. The event is any record in the electronic journal, for example - money withdrawal, card return, safe door open. External sensors could invoke specific events as well.
The group of ATMeye products is made up of three systems, namely ATMeye, ATMeye+ and ATMeye+NET, with ATMeye+ and ATMeye+NET being the most sophisticated of the three.
BS/2 was founded in 2001. They have 20 000 ATMeye installations in 60 countries. The agreement between Absolute Systems and BS/2 is for the distribution of ATMeye in Sub Saharan Africa.
