Absolute Systems and Bulk Pack Meat have been sponsoring the Absolute Systems/ Bulk Pack Meat cycling team for the last eight months. With cycling becoming increasingly popular as a sport and more and more road races appearing on the cycling calendar, it is a sponsorship, which is paying handsome dividends.
The Carousel Classic was raced on the weekend of the 10 August 2008.Marco van Biljoen was the only representative from the Absolute Systems/Bulk Pack Meat team at the race. But that did not stop him from winning!
Marco rode an amazing race in difficult conditions. To start with the race was delayed by 20 minutes. This was due to an accident, which had taken place on the road. It was a blessing in disguise as the temperatures were lower than expected and had warmed up a little by the time the race started.
The turnout of 87 cyclists was good. A number of major contenders were not present, however, as they had other racing commitments in KZN. The teams, which competed were, Cyclelab, Team Computer Smith (TCS), BMax, Microsoft, Harmony, Metal UP and a number of other riders. It was an out and back route with a small climb and then a little bigger one right at the turn-around point.
Marco managed to dominate for most of the race, despite being attacked a number of times by cyclists from the other teams. He put in a sterling effort to finish first!
Absolute Systems looks forward to honouring more winners from the Absolute Systems/ Bulk Pack Meat cycling team.
